Pale Waves brought their “Kiss Me Tour” to a triumphant finale at Camden’s iconic KOKO venue last night with support from Boyish and SISTRA. An early show with a 10pm curfew and just a one hour set.
Manchester-based three piece Pale Waves – singer and guitarist Heather Baron-Gracie, drummer Ciara Doran and bassist Charlie Wood – brought their cinematic alt-rock to London to conclude their latest tour which included a special hometown show: “Kiss Me In Manchester” at The Block.
This show was a real love letter to their fans, circa 1500 of whom packed out this gorgeous venue and on both the upper floors and the ground floor.
There were deep cuts from their older catalogue, including “Came In Close” and “Change”, as well as their fantastic cover of The Cranberries’ classic “Zombie”. All of which were met with huge response from the crowd, singing at the top of their lungs.
The set debuted two new songs, “Kisses of Tangerine” and “They Don’t Want You”, with Heather promising the crowd that next time they’re back, they’ll have released new music. “It’s been too long hasn’t it?”, she teased.
They closed with their infectious, breakthrough hit “There’s a Honey”, to adoring screams. This was a sparkling performance from a band who get better and more exciting every tour.
It may have been the last night of the run of show, but they didn’t lack one second of energy or fire in their delivery; it could have been the first night.
The 60 minutes we got were short and sweet, but still faultless and fantastic in equal measure.
