Dodgy: Back With A Bang!!!

After a decade away from the studio, 1990s British indie stars Dodgy are back in fine style – with a number three UK chart spot for their single “Hello Beautiful”.

Best be quick to place your bets ahead of tomorrow’s [Friday 10th October ] latest UK single’s chart for their follow-up single “Cambrian Gold”, which was released a week ago.

The good news is; both these tracks are lifted from the new Dodgy album “Hello Beautiful” – their sixth studio album – recorded entirely in Wales and slated for May 2026 release.

Dodgy play both songs live on their current 11-date UK tour, which continues to Frome on Saturday and closes in Stroud on 24th October.

The band say the latest single, “Cambrian Gold” is: “A reimagining of one of our favourite tracks from ‘What Are We Fighting For’, which came out nine years ago. There’s still a fantastic DJ remix [out yesterday] and a radio edit to come soon…”

Previous single “Hello Beautiful” via Flip Flop Records, features “shimmering, skyward guitars, golden harmonies, and that trademark sense of hopeful joy that’s always set them apart from their Britpop peers. It’s not just a song – it’s a moment. And it proves that while times may have changed, the essence of Dodgy remains gloriously intact.”

Frontman Nigel Clark delivers each line with heartfelt conviction, and drummer Mathew Priest holds it all together with the same effortless groove that defined the band’s 90s heyday. The chorus lands like a classic straight off of their album “Free Peace Sweet”.

The band formed 35 years ago and have released five albums, sold in excess of two million records, been streamed more than 50 million times worldwide, and enjoyed 12 Top 40 singles, including the timeless hit “Good Enough” – officially one of the most played tracks on British radio in the last 30 years.

Still boasting the original trio line up of Nigel Clark, Mathew Priest and Andy Miller, they added bass player Stu Thoy and multi-instrumentalist Graham Mann to their ranks.

After their October headline tour the band will hit the road with fellow indie icons Black Grape before the year is out, kickstarting at Queen Margaret Union in Glasgow on 28th November and ending at Manchester Academy just before Christmas on 20th December.
