Gonna be a smash hit banger for triple threat stars Headie One, AJ Tracey and Stormzy and their new collaborative single “Ain’t It Different”. The official first single from Headie’s forthcoming new album “Edna”, to drop later this year.
Produced by FRED (Stormzy, AJ Tracey, Burna Boy, Stefflon Don) and Toddla T (Young T & Bugsey, Aitch, Stormzy, Bugzy Malone), the new track samples two distinctive but equally iconic tracks; M-Dubs ‘Bump and Grind’ and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Pretty Little Ditty’ (which was also notably sampled by Crazy Town on the #1 hit ‘Butterfly’).
A first-time collaboration for Headie and AJ, but Headie and Stormzy have already seen success together with “Audacity” which made the UK Top 10 last year, 2019.
The video to “Ain’t It Different” was directed by Taz Tron Delix (Novelist, Kojey Radical and Oscar Worldpeace). It features Headie, AJ and Stormzy as members of an elite secret society with cameos from RV and OFB.
Amidst scenes of cars and motorbikes driving full throttle at maximum speed are futuristic elements with animated greenery and butterflies. Throughout the video is a towering statue of Headie overlooking a London skyline.
“Ain’t It Different” follow the success of “Only You Freestyle” featuring Canadian Hip-Hop icon, Drake, whose starring guest-turn on the track broke Headie on an international scale. Headie’s biggest hit to date, peaking at # five on the UK singles Chart and amassing 13 million views on YouTube so far.
Boasting over 1 billion global streams, AJ Tracey continues to push the boundaries of UK Rap. His latest single “West Ten” with Mabel, has spent more than five weeks in the UK Top 10. The double-platinum smash “Ladbroke Grove” was the top selling independent single of 2019, scoring a BRIT Award nomination.
AJ released his debut self-titled album in 2019, peaking at # three in the UK chart and Gold certification.
Stormzy’s latest album “Heavy Is The Head” became his second consecutive # one album in the UK chart and now certified Gold.
“Vossi Bop” broke the record for the biggest ever first week streams for a British rapper, with streams accumulating more than 12.7 million. The single earned Stormzy his first ever UK # one single, holding the top position for two weeks. “Own It” featuring Ed Sheeran and Burna Boy also topped the UK chart.
Stormzy has picked up more than 30 awards, including; two BRITS. Last year he became the first British rapper to headline Glastonbury Festival.
Headie One’s music has since amassed more than 60 million streams while notching up multiple top 20 placements on the UK Charts.
