Morganway are a much talked about UK Americana band who have made many new friends out on the road this year – and today release a new song and its video was shot on their recent tour, including a handful of high profile UK festivals.
If you were in the audience at any of these gigs or festivals, maybe you pop up on the video:
Black Deer Festival, C2C Country to Country,Cambridge Folk Festival, The Flying Pig, 229 The Venue, The Bedford, The Half Moon Putney, Norwich Arts Centre, Tilting Craig & Epic Studios, WOOD Festival, Royal Norfolk Show, Westview Live, March Summer Festival, The Portland Arms, Alresford Music Festival and many more.
The band say the video is a celebration of being in “this band, on the road, and we hope we’ve captured some of that experience.”
This latest single “I Want No Other Love”, is taken from their 11-track debut album to be released on August 2nd 2019. The video comes hot off the back of freshly announced UK support dates for CC Smugglers in October and November this year (dates below).
The song is the album closer (and final single to be released before the album drops), and bass player/singer Callum Morgan says it is like nothing else on the album. “…Really it’s two separate songs squeezed into one.
“Everything is fighting to be heard, the high fiddle, the fast kick-drum, the overlapping vocals, and then it’s all over, only to be teased back in with a backwards sound warp.
“It’s exactly right for a song that’s all about searching, getting close, but never reaching whatever it is you’re looking for, and I think it’s a little unexpected, too. We wanted it to sound like a late night, urban drive, especially as it reaches its climax.
Cambridge/Norwich-based Morganway was founded in 2016 by twin brothers Callum (vocals/bass) and Kieran Morgan (lead guitar), and keyboard player Matt Brocklehurst.
Their numbers grew with singer SJ Mortimer and fiddle player Nicole J Terry joining the ranks. Later, drummer Ed Bullinger completed the six-piece line-up.
Influenced by such acts as Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac and The Eagles, Morganway have received accolades from Radio 2’s Bob Harris, two nominations from the British Country Music Awards and support slots with The Shires.
