Swedish Electro-Pop Artist Frida Sundemo Drops Perfect Re-mix EP

There’s an awful lot of it around lately. What? The ‘flu? Depressing talk about Brexit or The Donald? Nah; I am taking about pop music, p-p-pop music; or to be more specific – Pop music coming outta Sweden.

There’s a bit of a resurgence of interest in that European country and its pop and electro-pop output right now. One of the best of the bunch is definitely Frida Sundemo. Her “We Are Dreamers” re-mix EP she’s just dropped is a bit gorgeous. A bit spesh…

“We Are Dreamers,” is her latest single, undergoing the re-mix treatment not once, not twice, not thrice but four fabulous times on this cracking EP. All four re-mixes give the cut a superb new edge, but for me; the CLMD remix is frigging awesome.

If it had David Guetta or Calvin Harris’ name on it, this would be a global smash. It deserves to be – a BIG sound as good as anything those two mega-DJs could deliver and this  could well be a summer 2017 dance floor hit if the right ears get to hear it and get behind it.

This uplifting, euphoric and addictive pop track has been lovingly reworked by four uber-talented Scandinavian producers: Loney Dear, CLMD, Dominique Tey and David Lillberg, each adding in their own alternative twist to the track.

This follows the release of Frida’s previous single “Heroes” which featured in the 2015 Hollywood movie adaption of John Niven’s ‘Kill Your Friends’, the film which she made her screen debut in as a leading role alongside Nicholas Hoult and James Corden. Frida had a total of three of her songs in the film. She has also seen her music included in episodes of ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ and ‘Scream Queens’ last year.

Frida’s unique and somewhat mesmerising sound has seen her build an ever-growing fan-base across the globe and she is surely destined to go on to huge  success. Wrapped in echoes and surrounded by pattering synths, the exquisite alt-pop songstress channels wide-eyed beauty and desolate melancholy with each spellbinding note and delicate breath, with every heartbeat.

Born in Gothenburg, Sweden, Frida grew up immersed in music, inspired initially by the guitar-driven sounds of her older brother’s record collection, as the music of Radiohead, The Strokes and Weezer resonated throughout her childhood home. But her love of classical music saw her develop unique talents for melody and experimentation. She learned French horn, piano and guitar and began recording and producing her own music. Her stuff is quite Anthemic at times and not like anyone else out there right now.

In 2010 she released her debut album “Dear, Let It Out,” exclusively in Japan, the lead single “Towers,” becoming a number one radio hit. Twok years later she worked with producer/songwriter Joel Humlén, and together they created the critically acclaimed “Indigo” EP in 2013, her first European release, through Parlaphone. The likes of NME and The Guardian showed her some love. The follow-up EP, “Lit Up By Neon,” in 2014 further established Frida as a gifted pioneer of Swedish electro-pop.

Now signed to Scandinavian record label Cosmos Music, Frida has continued to develop her passion for orchestral music, pulling influence from composers including Chopin, Hans Zimmer and John Williams. Intertwining this with her new experiences in pop and club culture, citing the likes of Boys Noize and Para One, to develop a unique sound of her own.

“We Are Dreamers,” is a synth-pop anthem that combines her other-worldly voice, ethereal, expansive soundscapes with a pulsating, four-to-the-floor beat which sets the scene for the release of her hotly anticipated full album later this year.

Music Republic Magazine says: “Let Frida Sundemo provide the soundtrack to your sunshine-filled summer of festivals and fun.  But don’t wait until then…let the Sundemo in now!”
