Award-winning Australian singer-songwriter Hannah Cameron is known for her “profound lyrical poetry and guitar picking”.
Lyrically, her super new track “Arms’ Length” is about attachment theory; the first release from Hannah’s upcoming album, the new music explores the different aspects and challenges of dating as a woman in her 30s. Based in Melbourne, Australia, it is three years since the release of her last album “Holding Pattern”.
“Arm’s Length” is produced by and features long-term friend, bandmate and collaborator Leigh Fisher (Angus and Julia Stone, Missy Higgins, Dope Lemon) in Melbourne and mixed by Burke Reid (Julia Jacklin, Flyte, Courtney Barnett) in France. The song explores the experience of avoidant attachment through the lens of the recipient.
Written in the summer of 2024 during a songwriting class led by Adrianne Lenker (Big Thief), the song features Cameron’s signature fingerpicking on rubber bridge guitar (the first song she ever wrote on this guitar) and intricate harmonies she has become known for. The track features Luke Hodgson (Angus and Julia Stone, Mondo Freaks, Todd Rundgren) as well as James Vincent (Jim Alxndr, Fliss) on fretless guitar.
“I wrote Arm’s Length while watching attachment theory play out in real time with a new person. I found myself noticing all of their avoidant tells and feeling like I (finally) knew better. There is something almost funny about watching the dynamic unfold from this place of understanding it – I think this song was my way of telling myself, you know how this goes”, Hannah reveals.

The song is accompanied by a music video by DOP Claire Giuffre (Julia Jacklin, Alex Lahey Teen, Jesus and the Jean Teasers) and featuring choreography by Siobhan McKenna “capturing the push and pull of the anxious/avoidant dynamic”.
With three acclaimed studio albums under her belt, including the Australian Music Prize-nominated “Holding Pattern”, Hannah has accumulated millions of streams. Beyond her solo work, Cameron is a sought-after session musician, touring with artists including The Paper Kites, Missy Higgins, and Ruby Gill.
