Alternative rockers The Warning, the trio of sisters hailing from Mexico, release their fifth studio album in a few days time.
The band grew up writing songs, playing shows, and sharpening their craft together in Monterrey, Mexico. The lifelong bond between siblings Daniela “Dany” (guitar, lead vocals, piano), Paulina “Pau” (drums, vocals, piano), and Alejandra “Ale” Villarreal (bass, piano, backing vocals) fuels their uncompromising vision as a band.
Their breakthrough came from “ERROR” in 2022, [stylised uppercase] and “Keep Me Fed” (2024), with the latter pushing their career streams past a staggering 710 million and earned a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song, for “Qué Más Quieres,” alongside nominations at the MTV VMAs and MTV EMAs.
A relentless touring schedule has taken them around the world, headlining packed venues and sharing stages with artists including Yungblud, Muse, Halsey, and Foo Fighters. In 2025, they capped off the cycle with sold-out shows for 30,000 fans in Mexico City, captured on the live album and concert film “Live From Auditorio Nacional CDMX”.
All 12 new songs are written by the band, with producer Anton DeLost, on an impressive high energy album, featuring with shredding guitar riffs and heavy breakdowns. Vocal performances from all three members blend together seamlessly. Overall, every layer of this set is given room to breathe and create undeniable impact.
Stand out track “Bite My Tongue” hits like a punch in the guts, with lyrics taking down patriarchy in the music industry, with lethal precision. Title track “Everything’s Falling” is grungy with a touch of Evanescence-style vocals.
The scream breakdown on “Why Do You Like It When I Cry” and chugging riff are sublime, and “Bloodsport” somehow perfectly blends a catchy pop sound with some mildly ‘threatening’ lyrics! “Ego”, the only song performed in Spanish, is a direct takedown of naysayers and those who underestimate these three people/musicians and this unit. Make no mistake, this band is here to stay.
The siblings sum up this record: “At its core, it’s about accepting that life can be messy and unpredictable. Things fall apart, plans change, and sometimes you lose your footing. But those moments can teach you the most about yourself, and they’re often what make you stronger in the end.” A cohesive, fully formed project that stands in its own lane in this overcrowded “alt.rock” genre today.
Footnote: I gave this album four stars as a rating for this review. Why not five stars, asks the editor. Good question. I think it is because it is REALLY good, but it’s not one that got stuck in my head. For me, maybe a couple of the tracks may not be as strong as others here, but overall as an entire project it is superb work.
“Everything’s Falling” by The Warning will tick all the boxes as a fantastic alternative rock album if that is your bag, specially if you are a fan of the likes of Evanescence, Spiritbox and Bring Me The Horizon. Falling? No way; these three seemingly still very much on the ascent even after five albums.
