Marillion: 25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition of “marillion.com” (earMUSIC) 19th June 2026

Few bands from the neo-prog rock era have aged with the drive and ambition of Marillion. They have continued to evolve, refining a cinematic, emotionally-layered sound that feels distinctive, decades into their career.

Their newly announced anniversary revisit of “marillion.com” marks the point where that transformation became fully apparent.

To mark 25 years since the original album’s arrival, the band have unveiled a freshly reworked version of their track “Go!”, alongside news of an expansive deluxe reissue of the 1999 record.

Due for release on 19th of June, the collection will be available in lavish multi-format editions on both CD and vinyl, giving longtime fans plenty to dive into.

Originally released at the tail end of the band’s relationship with Castle Communications, “marillion.com” represented a significant turning point. It was the group’s 11th studio effort and, in hindsight, a bridge between eras; less rooted in the neo-progressive structures of their earlier work and more focused on atmosphere, texture and emotional sweep.

The album hinted strongly at the widescreen sonic identity that would later define much of their 21st-century output. It also arrived just before the band famously embraced fan-funded recording methods for 2001’s “Anoraknophobia”, a pioneering move that reshaped how progressive artists could connect directly with their audience.

The new deluxe treatment appears designed not only as a remastering exercise, but also as a full archival celebration. Both the 3CD/Blu-ray media book and the sprawling 5LP edition include a newly remixed and remastered presentation of the original album, giving tracks greater depth and clarity without sacrificing their moody character.

There’s also a complete live performance captured at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire during the band’s 1999 tour, previously unavailable in full and likely to greatly appeal to collectors eager to revisit the era in a more visceral setting.

The presentation itself sounds suitably exhaustive. Fans can expect extensive visual material, including rare imagery, updated artwork and assorted memorabilia reproductions, while progressive rock writer Rich Wilson contributes a detailed essay chronicling the making of the album.

Most enticing for audiophiles may be the Blu-ray component bundled with the media book edition. Alongside hi-res audio and surround sound mixes, the disc also gathers demos, early developmental recordings, a documentary centred on the album, and the “Shot In The Dark” (Zodiac) concert film, which effectively turns the package into a time capsule of Marillion at a pivotal creative crossroads.

The album features the familiar lineup, with Steve Hogarth handling vocals alongside Steve Rothery on guitar, Mark Kelly on keyboards, Pete Trewavas on bass and Ian Mosley on drums. Production duties  overseen by longtime collaborator Michael Hunter, with recording and engineering work taking place between the band’s own Racket Club studio and Peter Gabriel’s Real World Studios.

More than a nostalgia piece, this reissue highlights an album that deserves attention; as “marillion.com” reveals a band in transition, restless, experimental and quietly preparing for the next chapter of their career. The new mix of “Go!” captures that perfectly: reflective yet forward-looking, intimate yet atmospheric. The sound of a group laying the foundations for the direction they continue to follow today.

  • The band embark on their 14-date 2026 UK tour in September, ending with two nights at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo at the start of October.
