Eugene McGuinness returns with “Eastend Requiem”, taken from his forthcoming new album:”Eugene McGuinness Versus The Universe’, due for release April 24th 2026.
“Eastend Requiem” nods to bands like The Divine Comedy and Tindersticks – with Eugene’s trademark lyrical wit and flair on this harmony-laden candid and gritty lament for London’s East End.
His incoming new album was recorded at Liverpool’s Docklands Speed Shop with friend and producer Gajo Paco. “Eugene McGuinness Versus The Universe” picks up where “The Early Learnings of Eugene McGuinness” left off.
Eugene began writing songs in his teens and gained recognition with 2007’s debut EP “The Early Learnings of Eugene McGuinness”, preceding self-titled debut album a year later via Domino Records.
“Glue” dropped in 2009, as Eugene and The Lizards, “The Invitation to the Voyage” in 2012 and “Chroma” in 2014. Independently released “Suburban Gothic” (2018)marked his departure from Domino Records.
