Check out this superb new single, “Eye Sore”, from Australian artist and producer EMEREE [stylised upper case], who we previously hotly-tipped and praised her performances at this year’s Great Escape Festival in Brighton, where we did an exclusive photo shoot with the talented rising star.
The new single ‘Eyesore’ dropped on 26th June and comes hot on the heels of her fab UK debut single “Spring Cleaning” that kick started a strong following this side of the pond. She has already amassed millions of views on social media with a growing fanbase across the world.
EMEREE returns with her sharpest single yet “Eyesore”, a sugar-coated slice of pop revenge wrapped in addictive r&B production, tongue-in-cheek lyrics, and vocals that don’t just cut — they slice clean through.
She says: “Eyesore is the anthem for anyone who’s ever dated someone who treated them horribly and just wasn’t hot enough to get away with it.”
Co-written and co-produced with Christian Tjandrawinata, the track os fearless, fun, and unapologetically sarcastic; with her signature stacked harmonies, silky smooth vocal runs, and whip-smart lyricism that combine into a glossy, venomous earworm.
Think Sabrina Carpenter, RAYE and Mark Ronson all in one. “It’s petty. It’s polished. It’s the kind of revenge that smiles while it stings,” says EMEREE.
The release is paired with a killer DIY music video — literally! Complete with vintage aesthetics, 80s camp horror influences, and a narrative twist that ends in metaphorical murder…
EMEREE is fresh from UK studio sessions with industry heavyweights, including Invisible Men (Jessie J, Iggy Azalea), Eg White (Adele), and more.
She has recently returned from the Anti Social Camp for songwriters in New York for which she was hand-picked, and she is soon set to work with global icon Nile Rogers.
EMEREE aka Gabrielle Emery is a standout musician, producer, a multi-instrumentalist and with an impressive four-octave vocal range. Her music confidently shines alongside contemporary RnB fusion artists RAYE and Cleo Sol.
The homage to classic soul in the ilk of Amy Winehouse is woven into EMEREE’s self-produced records. As a writer, her lyrics often explore the realms of sexual identity and female empowerment with addictive honesty.
A commended producer in her own right, EMEREE’s golden touch has catapulted works to more than 50 million Spotify streams that include Tyla Jane’s hit “Energy”, which also boasts massive international sync’ placements.
