1990’s boy band Giant Killers supported Blur on their sold out “Country House” tour at the height of Brit Pop and were on the verge of a big breakthrough, but it didn’t quite happen for them after they lost their record deal after just two singles, and an album which was recorded but shelved.
They have not released a video for 28 years – until now with “When This Time Is Over”, the new track released via Little Genius and its accompanying video, out now.
Shot live at the Teddy Rocks Festival in Dorset in May 2024, it mixes live performance footage from the main stage, with multiple cameo appearances from festival goers front of stage, and adds in friends and fellow performers from the backstage areas.
The overall result is a celebration of the power of friendship and good times marked against the passage of time.
The live footage was a one song only special dispensation from the festival organisers, as Michael Brown and the other members of the the band were there as session musicians to play in other bands during the festival weekend – which raised money for kids with cancer.
The new track follows the release in January 2024 of their critically acclaimed debut album, “Songs For The Small Places” nearly three decades on from when they recorded it, after getting their masters back from the label that dropped them back in the 90s.
The core of the indie-pop band are song writing duo Jamie Wortley (guitar, keys, lead vocals) and Michael Brown (bass, keys, brass, vocals).
The band is committed to a string of single releases throughout 2024 starting with, “When This Time is Over”. They will be opening the main stage at the Shiiine On Festival in November at Butlins in Bognor Regis.
