The end is nigh! The final day of Wychwood Festival 2024 is upon us. Three fabulous days of great live music, comedy and a whole lot more. Friday with Sister Sledge top of the bill, and Saturday which was headed up by Texas, will be hard to beat.
But sunny Sunday offers up the brilliant Ocean Colour Scene as headliners, to close proceedings for this 18th year of the event on Cheltenham racecourse – with up to 10,000 people attending this lovely friendly, family-focused, chilled gathering with people from all over the UK and overseas lapping it up.
Warm sunshine for 99% of the three days, and zero rain. Yaaaay!
Today we caught these superb bands and artists in the act: The Futureheads, Brogeal, Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard, Seth Lakeman, Lightning Seeds [who ended their set with a mass singalong ahead of the 2024 Euros, with “Three Lions” – or “It’s Coming Home” as many call it”], the awesome Seasick Steve, Kevin Rowland’s Dexys and the mighty Ocean Colour Scene.
Enjoy the cracking “Hot Shots” gallery from our busy beaver snapper Liam, who has requested a jet pack be provided for him if we cover Wychwood next year. Poor old geezer has done a month of steps in three days! Well, the best we can do mate is a second hand pair of roller skates from a car boot sale. Such a diva!!
- Our favourite performances of the festival are Corinne Bailey Rae and Sister Sledge on day # one, Abbie Ozard, CVC and Stereo MCs on day # two, and The Futureheads, Seasick Steve and Ocean Colour Scene on day # three.
And that’s a wrap for Wychwood 2024. A triple treat, fab weather and a really eclectic choice of music with the emphasis on quality and classy…More of the same next year please guys – and maybe one extra day please!!!
