Festival season 2024 is upon us…Yaaaaaay!

We already kicked off our coverage with The Great Escape in Brighton last weekend, and now we get to May bank holiday weekend and the sun is shining and life is good…

Because Brockwell Park in South London has not one, not two, not three, but four; yes four different one-dayers with a very tasty array of bands and artists across the long weekend. Under the umbrella of “Bank Holiday Weekender”.

Day # one: Project 6. Brockwell Live’s newest event, Project 6 brings the hottest talent in UK hip-hop and electronic music to Brockwell Park, in partnership with the team behind the iconic Outlook Festival.

Day # two: Wide Awake. Wide Awake is London’s leading festival for alternative music, and has been going since 2019 with a carefully curated and boundary-pushing programme which has been filling the gaps between post-punk, alternative pop, psychedelic and electronic music.

Day # three:  Cross The Tracks is a timeless feast of jazz, soul and funk featuring legendary artists as well as up-and-coming performers across nine stages – one of London’s premier music events.

Day # four: It is time for the red hot reggae source… City Splash is London’s biggest festival celebrating African and Caribbean music and culture, featuring legends and upcoming talents from across the spectrum of reggae, dancehall, afrobeats, amapiano and more, alongside 80+ black-owned food traders.

Here we happily bring you our Hot Shots gallery of superb images from Saturday’s “Wide Awake” – courtesy of our super snapper Mr Liam Battersby – despite his poor blistered feet from so many steps around the site across the four days, bless him!!! [We told him not to wear those red stilettos, but would he listen?]

  • Do check out our Hot Shots gallery from Sunday’s “Cross The Tracks”, in our “Live Zone”…
