Newcastle’s Cluny Turns Bright Red For One Day Festival…

 

 

With tickets for many arena shows and festivals costing a small fortune, here is a date for your diary which will offers up 12 bands/artists on one stage on one day for the price of a couple of pints or a coffee and a sandwich.

The Bright Red Music Festival at Newcastle’s legendary venue The Cluny on Friday 16th August 2024 sees a dozen performances across nine hours – 2pm to 11pm – with all profits going to the Bright Red Charity – a worthy cause which supports the northern region hospitals, and helps patients who are dealing with a wide range of blood cancers. The more common diseases are leukaemia, lymphoma and myelomas. [They also help support patients suffering from myelodysplasia and myeloproliferative diseases.]

Bright Red work with Northern Centre for Cancer Care, North Tyneside Hospital, Wansbeck Hospital, North Tees, The Friarage, Hexham General, North Cumbria, James Cook, and Durham Hospital.

The festival – hosted by TV presenter Pam Royle – features an eclectic array of talent from around the UK on one stage. Opening the festival will be Teesside madcaps Growing Old Disgracefully, followed by Brothers in Arms singer Phil Caffrey, South Shields’ singer Patrick Gosling and 80’s act Fuzzbox. The afternoon acts close with an acoustic performance from Brian ‘Nasher’ Nash [guitarist from Frankie Goes T0 Hollywood].

The evening session kicks off with Narcotic Hearts, before Plumhall who recently supported Fairport Convention on their UK tour. London electronica duo Ooberfuse, Newcastle band Park View, Northumberland’s Sam Shields, and then singer and songwriter Alistair Griffin [who appeared on the BBC’s Fame Academy and has since become one of the country’s most respected songwriters].

The event closes with headline act, Fargo Railroad Co. With a live album and two studio LPs to their name, this band have extensive touring experience in the UK and overseas, including UK support tour for Hayseed Dixie. Their sound harks back to the roots of country rock and blues.
