California’s Americana Prospects The Great North Special Drop New Track/Video…

Southern California’s The Great North Special have released “Toketee Breakpown”, the first single from their upcoming debut full-length LP, follow up track to the fabulously groove-soaked single “Love Service Devotion”, which channelled Little Feat’s vibe.

Directed by Matt Costa and featuring psychedelic animations by renowned artist Rob Fidel, the video to the new track is a captivating journey through vibrant film landscapes and mind-bending animated visuals.

The two singles are the first new music from The Great North Special since their debut self-titled EP in 2020. The band is based out of Laguna Beach, CA, with all seven members having spent years playing in various bands from California, before coming together and forming this new band that ties together elements of the history of California music.

From the psychedelic sounds of 60s/70s San Francisco, the country hybrid known as the “Bakersfield Sound”, the pulsing rhythms and sounds of Latin America, to the many incredible songwriters who have recorded music in L.A.

The ensemble features Russell Long (Guitar/Vocals), Andrew Corradini (Guitar/Vocals), Kevin Bleitz (Drums), Anson Ditt (Bass), Ben Wagner (Guitar/Lap Steel), Max Vega (Percussion) and Albert Margolis (Keys/Vocals) – who before joining The Great North Special played for 20 years with Leo Nocentelli of The Meters.

The Great North Special are an exciting and welcome addition to the Americana scene and could become hot property for record labels and festivals around the world.
