The West Country of the UK – Devon and Cornwall – have a slew of decent music and arts festivals popping up this summer – and one of the gems among them is the Great Estate festival.
“A most rambunctious garden fete” – set within the grounds of Scorrier House, Redruth, Cornwall – an award-winning ’boutique, family festival’, now in its fifth year.
This year’s event sees an increased capacity of 10,000 guests across the four-day Queen’s Jubilee weekend in June (2nd – 5th), with Manic Street Preachers headlining.
The eclectic line-up includes Electric Six, Sugarhill Gang, Grandmaster Melle Mel’s Furious 5 & Scorpio, DJ Yoda, Elektra Fence (Ru Paul’s Drag Race), Krafty Kuts, The Future Shape Of Sound, Loup Garoux (Ed Harcourt), Will & The People, ‘Oh My God! It’s The Church’, Dick Valentine and Craig Charles.
Previous line-ups for this festival include Echo and the Bunnymen, The Charlatans, Razorlight and James.
Scorrier House is a country house set within four hundred acres of private parkland and gardens. Originally built in 1780 by the mining tycoon John Williams, Scorrier House is renowned for its garden – winding paths, wild meadows, maintained borders, flowering urns and radiant vistas.
