Irish singer-songwriter Declan O’Rourke releases his gorgeous new single “Andy Sells Coke” today (6th November 2020), the second single from his long-awaited Paul Weller-produced album “Arrivals”, due in February 2021 on Eastwest Records.
The video for the new single features Declan on vocal and acoustic guitar, a drummer and Weller on bass at Paul’s Black Barn studio in Surrey, where the album – Declan’s first for three years – was recorded.
Weller, a fan of Declan’s songwriting for some years, adds his multi-instrumental abilities to the 10 tracks, including piano.
Declan’s last album, 2017’s “Chronicles Of The Great Irish Famine”, documented rare first-hand accounts from that devastating period of Irish history and garnered numerous awards.
His writing is much admired and covered by fellow artists, most notably his classic 2004 song “Galileo”, which has been recorded by Eddi Reader and Josh Groban among others.
Other admirers include Ronnie Wood, Paul Brady and Chris Rea.
Declan describes “Andy Sells Coke” as, “a forty-something’s rude re-awakening to nightlife in the city”.
The track is at the very top end in sheer class and quality as far as any singer-songwriter release this year. One of the songs of the year, in fact.
Our appetites are well and truly whetted for the long player…
