Music Republic Magazine * EXCLUSIVE *
Yazmine MB is a super fresh new young UK soul and r&b voice who we are proud to premiere….
Music Republic Magazine is tipping this talented 19-year-old (her birthday was three days ago!) raw talent for success – and we really dig her debut track and video, “I Do” – which drops officially on 31st May 2020. (Watch the video at the bottom of this feature…)
The song looks at “the act of giving in…challenging the concept of commitment…exploring themes of reluctance and regret”.
The South East Londoner takes her influence from some of the greats such as Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill and Etta James – but she blends the vintage with on-trend sounds similar to the likes of Jorja Smith and H.E.R. She’s got a bit of Mahalia about her, too.
Penning her first song at the age of four, singing in the choir from seven…. since then she has spent more than a decade immersed head to toe in the arts; singing, writing songs, collaborating, producing, performing, and learning/playing several instruments.
A 2019 BRIT School graduate, Yazmine has gigged at some of London’s iconic spots, such as the legendary 100 Club in Oxford Street and even at the historic National Portrait Gallery. She played her first sold-out show at a Tower Bridge venue in London in February.
She has worked with a slew of award-winning producers from London, L.A., Miami and Norway since graduation last July, to nail her own sound.
Just starting to gain a wee bit of traction from specialist soul radio, and we – Music Republic Magazine – deffo think there’s much potential here. Bring on more new music asap, girl! We got your back and first to give you magazine coverage…..We will not be the last!
