UK artist Jana drops a new single today (21st February), “Promise”. She has plenty of that too, as we have said before…
We premiere the official lyric video for the track, below.
“It’s a post break up ballad about finally being able to see the other person for who they really are. Stepping out of the illusion”, says Jana who penned the song.
The Slovak-raised singer-songwriter based in London released her debut EP “Lanterns” in September 2019. Music Republic Magazine showed that record some well deserved love, and two lovely singles from it – “Birdhouse” and “Gift” in 2019.
She beautifully presented her blend of soft rock, folk pop with hints of country, all tied together with her pure vocals attracting comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Karen Carpenter.
Jana’s musical journey started in her native Slovakia where she studied classical piano and flute. She went on to study flute in France and continued to pursue the career of a classical musician auditioning for orchestras.
She was a member of progressive rock outfit ‘Persona Grata’ that received a lot of praise from Mike Portnoy (Dream Theatre), who invited the band to play at the ”Progressive Nation At Sea” in Miami, USA.
Following her childhood dream of becoming a singer, she took a leap of faith and moved to London in 2014, not knowing anyone there.
At its core, her music is full of melodies that deliver lyrics effortlessly with great intimacy. Having lived away from her birthplace for a long time, she often sings about leaving or finding home.
The new single “Promise” is a chilled-out jazz tinged mid-tempo cut, where Jana’s blissful and soulful vocals soar, and they sooth, very much Joni Mitchell territory. Quite mesmerising and very classy. Jana gets better and better…………….
We still say she is destined for big things – if there’s any justice.
