Celine & The Blue – Music Republic Magazine Video Exclusive

Nothing is new. That’s just about a given in music, right? But sometimes, a singer comes along with a voice that just grabs your attention within seconds. Eliciting that kind of, “Ahh, now we might just have something special here,” moment.

With that in mind, let us introduce you to a young Italian woman called Celine Buccomino. She’s lived in the UK for two years now and fronts a breezy modern soul-jazz outfit based in Surrey, UK.

They call themselves Celine & The Blue and have just dropped their debut track, “Just You”, which shows huge potential. Celine’s sultry, soul-drenched vocals are very much on-trend and their ensemble sound is fun, joyous and cool.

The guitarist has a real nice jazz touch to his playing – his licks on the single are spot on – and they have a solid rhythm section.

Music Republic Magazine exclusively brings you the video to their new track – tipping Celine and her four partners in musical crime for plenty of future success. She’s got the chops to become a little future star with a dose of good luck…

They are Céline Buccomino (20) on lead vocals, Enea Lleshi (22) on keyboards, Jarreau “Jay” Wetzels (22) on guitar, Horatiu Lehene (23) on bass and Elliot Yarnall (21) on drums.

Enea is Albanian and has been in the UK for two years, Elliot is a Brit, Horatiu is Romanian and came to the UK four years ago. Jay is from The Netherlands and has lived in the UK for the past five years.

They all met while studying at The Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, and formed the band when Celine needed musicians to back her at a local pub gig for her song writing course assessment in July last year (2018).

They didn’t plan to stay together as a unit after that initial gig, but the chemistry was instant and the response they got from the 50 or so at the gig was overwhelming – and after just two rehearsals too

The five are all in the final year of their music degrees, and hold down part-time jobs too. Céline is a private tutor in IB English, Italian and Business & Management. Enea is a waiter, Jay a sales assistant, Horatiu a chef and Elliot an estate agent.

Enea and Céline are the band’s main songwriters. The debut single “Just You” is out now on all digital platforms and their second single, “Hide In Your World” is slated for a July release. Both tracks recorded in March in Newbury, produced by Sam Winfield. They are back in the studio in late June to cut two new tracks.

Honing their set in rehearsals and a handful of local gigs around Guildford in the last 11 months, the band are booked for Guildford’s Summer Live Festival in July and Cranleigh Folk Festival in September to properly unveil their musical wares.

Their collective influences range from H.E.R., Raveena, Lianne La Havas, John Mayer, Tom Misch, Leon Bridges and Vulfpeck. They say that their debut song, “Just You” illustrates infatuation between new lovers.

Celine & The Blue will have dropped four tracks by the end of this year, aiming to continue penning new material and get out and about around the UK for plenty of gigs. Go see ’em, have an ear-holing of the debut single and see what you think.

We think she’s raw talent with buckets full of potential, with a damn good band behind her. Remember you heard/saw her/them here first!!!

  • The band have a headline gig tonight (10th of June) at The Star Inn, Guildford to launch their new single.
