Solihull. West Midands town, where the likes of Duran Duran’s John Taylor, Top Gear and The Grand Tour star Richard Hammond and rapper Lady Leshurr were born.
On Birmingham’s doorstep just under eight miles away, and some 110 miles northwest of London. A very affluent area.
Most definitely punching above its weight when it comes to the star studded line-up signed up to appear at this year’s Solihull Summer Fest across the August Bank holiday weekend.
X Factor 2018 winners and chart toppers Rak-Su, Busted with an exclusive 2018 appearance, Alesha Dixon, Sister Sledge and the legendary Sugarhill Gang are just some of the star names on stage over the two days of Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th August.
In its third year, held in the picturesque setting of Tudor Grange Park, there are also famous local heroes turning up to do their thing. Two Birmingham acts, The Beat featuring Ranking Roger, and Roland Gift from Fine Young Cannibals.
With more than 10 hours of live music each day, the Saturday 25th August line-up includes Sister Sledge, 10cc – who had 11 Top Ten UK singles including ‘Dreadlock Holiday’, ‘Rubber Bullets’ and ‘I’m Not In Love’ – Rak-Su, singing star and Britain’s Got Talent judge, Alesha Dixon, Roland Gift and some tribute acts.
Sunday 26th August provides an exclusive opportunity to see Busted performing their only confirmed gig for 2018.
The day two line-up also features Razorlight, who topped the singles chart with ‘America’, Lightning Seeds, The Beat feat Ranking Roger and fellow ska band The Dualers.
The Sugar Hill Gang, whose club classic ‘Rapper’s Delight’ is credited for introducing hip hop music to a wider audience, will be making it a memorable final day, too.
Gates open from 11am until 10pm. In addition to the music there will be fun fair rides, a food village full of street vendors and a huge variety of bars, including Real Ale and Prosecco.
Exclusive VIP tickets include entry to the VIP area and garden, a VIP and cocktail bar, luxury toilets (not to be underestimated!) and Gold Circle access to the front of the stage.
Festival Manager, Sarah Jane Elliott promises “fun and excitement” and their “biggest and best Solihull Summer Fest yet!”
