Powerful New Single And Tour Announcement For One To Watch Callum Stewart
Northern Irish singer Callum Stewart is an artist Music Republic Magazine is tipping for BIG things…
His new single “The Dam” has’ epic’ and ‘anthem’ written all over it; surely a good bet to greatly appeal to the radio playlist suits. If it is shown lots of on-air love, he has a hit on his hands. It deserves to be.
Just released through Hope & Fury Records, a powerful on-trend ballad that builds with intensity to showcase an uber-commanding vocal on an emotionally committed song from this talented 19-year-old artist. The song was co-written with Jez Ashurst (Gabrielle Aplin, Lawson) and Emma Rohan (James Arthur, Little Mix). It follows the impact of his previous single “Parachute”, released last year, which has attracted more than half a million plays on Spotify.
Raised on the North Coast of Ireland, singer-songwriter Callum Stewart picked up a guitar at the age of 12, and within a year was writing his own songs. He began his musical career playing in bands throughout high school, taking any chance to perform. He soon caught the attention of Irish based, US producer, Tre Sheppard, who began writing and recording with Callum during school holidays. Callum released his first single “Free” a year later, gaining notable interest within the music industry.
Callum has an affinity for the craft of songwriting and musicianship far beyond his years, making him one of the most promising young artists in Ireland. With swelling arrangements and heart stopping melodies, Stewart creates climactic, alt-pop marked by raw passion.
Since the release of his second single Gold”, Callum has sung with Nile Rodgers and Rudimental on the remix of the classic Chic song “Le Freak”, has been writing with some of the UK’s best songwriters and has been over to Nashville.
His last single, “Parachute”, co-written with Jimbo Barry (The Script), Andrew Jackson (Bastille & Lana Del Ray) and Tre Sheppard dropped last June (2016). The song dealt with the darker themes of loss and heartbreak; a soundtrack for coming of age, an anthem for a journey well-travelled, but also somehow only just begun.
Belfast boy Callum headlines in London at Servant Jazz Quarters this week, on Wednesday (Feb 22nd) and has been announced as support for (the superb) Seafret on their tour in May.
