Remember Monday, The Adrian Flux Waterfront Studio Norwich, 4th November 2025

The Boomtown Rats sang “I Don’t Like Mondays”. The Mamas & the Papas sang “Monday Monday”. The Bangles sang “Manic Mondays”. New Order sang “Blue Monday”. All-girl vocal group Houston didn’t sing about Monday; they changed their name to Remember Monday.

But last night’s gig in Norwich was a Tuesday, not a Monday. Confused? Me too and I am the one writing this review! I’ll explain…

The place, the studio within The Adrian Flux Waterfront venue in Norwich. Rammed to the rafters as one of the sold out gigs on the “What The Hell Just Happened?” tour from all-girl group Remember Monday.

The 17-dates kicked off in Cardiff on 13th October, and after Norwich they have two more shows; in Cambridge tonight [5th Nov] and then closing at the 2,000 capacity Shepherd’s Bush Empire on Friday [7th].

You may recall this act from The Voice UK in 2019 when they got a four chair turn with their audition song, Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose, choosing US star Jennifer Hudson as their coach, before they went out of the contest in the later stages, but they made a big impression.

Jennifer Hudson threw one of her shoes onto the stage to get their attention and as a mark of how much she wanted to be their mentor.

Jennifer is a still a big supporter of the group and funded a music video for them, and in 2024 invited them to appear on her top US TV chat show where they performed “Hand in My Pocket” by Alanis Morissette.

You will also probably know them as the English country pop girl group, consisting of members Lauren Byrne, Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, who represented the United Kingdom in the Eurovision Song Contest in May 2025 in Switzerland.

It was their own [bloody good] song “What the Hell Just Happened?”, finishing 10th with the International juries and 19th overall. The song spent three weeks in the UK singles chart, and peaked at # 31.

The trio met in Farnborough in 2013, formed Houston singing covers while studying at sixth form college, where they bonded over a shared passion for music. Holly had previously performed at the 80th birthday party of Elizabeth II, and had performed in The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables. Lauren had played Miss Honey in Matilda and Charlotte had played Jane Banks in Mary Poppins.

At the time they formed they were known as Houston; changing their name in 2018 to Remember Monday, as they all had free periods that day and would meet up to sing together. The band left their jobs in September 2023 to pursue music full time, with Charlotte giving up the deputy headship at the performing arts school Artemis College.

They have released Two EPs: “Hysterical Women” in February 2023 and “Crazy Anyway” in October 2024, plus 15 singles; three in 2025: “What The Hell Just Happened”, Happier” and the current track, “More Than Ever” which dropped in October.

They were praised for their performance at Wembley Stadium during Capital FM’s Summertime Ball, and have clocked up more than 12 million likes on TikTok. After a 2025 summer of festival appearances, this tour was eagerly anticipated by their fans.

A bit of a misnomer to label them country or country pop as they often are. There will be those who’d not go see them or listen to their music because country is not their bag. But they definitely deserve a bigger audience and fanbase.

So if you like The Corrs, Fleetwood Mac, The Chicks [formerly known as The Dixie Chicks] and those vocal groups whose harmonies are tighter than a chancellor of the exchequer on budget day, Ms Lauren, Ms Holly and Ms Charlotte are the ladies you need to check out.

They sling in a few snug-fit covers, but they should be acknowledged for not only their golden voices, but also as song writers. They have their chops together on that score too.

Live: No miming, no backing tracks – an all-female three-piece band behind them – no auto-tune; and those sweet, sweet faultless three-part harmonies could melt butter.

What amazes me is that this group have never released an album. Eh? Someone is missing out here to make a few bob and back this group by funding a full LP.

They play to big numbers at festivals and decent box office on their tours; with a gig closing this tour on Friday this week at London’s 2,000 capacity 02 Shepherd’s Bush Empire proof of their status and following.

Maybe “J Hud” is up for investing a few $$$ for the debut album from her Brit’ mates, and there is absolutely a market for it, specially if Jennifer Hudson guests on a track.

In Norwich, The Adrian Flux Waterfront is an old brewery warehouse which was converted to a live music venue back in 1990. There are two rooms, the larger hosts 700 and the smaller a 200 capacity.

The likes of Pulp, Radiohead, Nirvana, The Verve, Arctic Monkeys, Amy Winehouse, Paul Weller, and The Darkness have performed here, among many other big names.

The evening began for around 15 fans with a VIP ‘meet and greet’, coupled with watching the group’s sound check.

Support act, “dark pop” singer and songwriter Thera and her three-piece band had a full room to welcome her to the stage, and she made many new fans. The 18-year-old from The Czech Republic is one to watch.

Inspired by SZA, Madison Beer, Billie Eilish and Tate McRae, the name Thera influenced by the word therapy, highlighting the songwriter’s devotion to using music as a therapeutic outlet; her debut album, “I Wish I Called” dropped in September 2024.

Her viral hits “Stain” and “DLTTI” have had millions of streams on Spotify and TikTok, and at 18 she has already toured Europe with Eurovision winner Loreen.

After Thera’s impressive short set, Remember Monday and their band bound onto the stage to the screams and applause from the mainly young crowd, and mainly female. [I bet a lot of these youngsters are in stage and drama classes and aspire to be up there where Remember Monday are one day.]

The group delivered 16 songs in the main set, including covers of “Please Please Please”, the Sabrina Carpenter track, and Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club”. After that, the band leave the stage to the trio and it was time for four a cappella snippets of covers chosen by some of the crowd, in the “Jug Bucket Game”.

Thera

This consists of a “bucket” filled with song choices put in by the crowd, and then picked out by the band who would then have to sing a part of them with no prior warning. The group admitting it’s the most tense part of the show very night.

Different songs every night of the tour, tonight there were four: “Dial Drunk” by Noah Kahan, Van Morrison’s “Brown Eyed Girl”,  “House Tour” by Sabrina Carpenter, and Taylor Swift’s “All Too Well”.

The trio have a big presence on stage and their theatrical background in West End Theatre clearly helps. They are bubbly and fun, and obviously huge friends who are all loving their job.

Thera

Holly-Anne speaks to the crowd and asks who had seen them before and who had never seen them before. A lone voice from the back says he had not seen them. Holly-Anne asks his name. “Chris.” She then asks if he’d ever heard of Eurovision. “No”. She replies: “Well, it’s a big singing contest and we won!” Nice line.

Other covers in the set included “Hand In My Pocket” by Alanis Morrisette, and JoJo’s “Too Little Too Late”. Their own song, “Prove Me Right” was the song they had written for Eurovision, but it wasn’t a fit.

They premiered two unreleased self-penned songs, “The Page” and “Right Heart Wrong Time”.  The set opened with “Famous” and closed with “What the Hell Just Happened?”.

As good as these three women were tonight, I resisted the urge to lob either of my shoes at them. They have enough sole already [see what I did there?], and we will all remember Tuesday in Norwich, I mean Remember Monday, I’m sure…
