US pop queen Christina Aguilera kicked off her UK tour last night at the seaside – wowing an 8,000 strong sold out crowd at Scarborough’s open air theatre (the UK’s largest open air concert arena) with a spectacular, hits-filled show.
Fans lapped up the smash hits such as Genie In A Bottle and Lady Marmalade in the energetic set where she was joined by her band and dance troupe.
Opening with hits “Dirrty”, “Can’t Hold Us Down” and “Bionic”, the Grammy-winner and multi-million selling artist looked uber-cool in a a space-age/sci-fi style costume featuring silver (perhaps Madonna-influenced) suit.
Plus black thigh-length boots and wrap around shades, such as she wore in the video for her track, “Dirrty”.
There were several costume changes in the show, Christina keeping her hair in a ponytail and looking and sounding like a superstar.
Joined by guest Nelson to duet on the cover of, “Say Something (I’m Giving Up On You)”, by A Great Big World.
The rain dropped for a few seconds during her global smash, “Beautiful”, but kept away after that for the rest of the show.
She will perform tonight (3rd August) at Liverpool’s M&S Bank Arena, London’s 02 Arena on Friday (5th) and Brighton Pride on Saturday (6th) after her triumphant performance at L.A. Pride in June.
* The Scarborough venue will host Lewis Capaldi later in August and George Ezra in September.
