Lola Moxom – Our hot tip for big things…

The UK’s rapidly-rising 19-year-old r&b artist Lola Moxom has unveiled a sunning live version of fantastic debut track “Cool With It”, recorded and filmed at Mount Pleasant Studios in London. The innate vocal runs are astounding…..this girl can saaaaannngg!

The sizzling performance video – and live track now available to stream on DSPs – highlight Lola’s exceptional vocal prowess, filled with impressive riffs and runs, and showcases her undeniable talent as a live performer and dynamic music artist.

The 19-year-old London-based singer, songwriter, producer and performer draws influence from traditional and contemporary r&b, with music reflecting her deep appreciation for the genre’s roots while pushing the boundaries of its modern form. With a strong ear for producing music, Lola brings a fresh perspective to her craft, combining the essence of an old soul with a modern twist.

Lola’s debut EP will be out by the end of the year.

“I never thought this song would ever see the light of day – I wrote it about three years ago, which feels like a lifetime at my age. It’s one of the very first songs I created in the studio when I started collaborating with producers.

“This song means the world to me because it’s about dealing with disrespect, and thinking the only way to make them understand their mistake is to give them a taste of their own medicine. I was stuck in a toxic relationship back then, so this song really hits close to home for me.

“I’m super proud of the vocal arrangement, and James Berkeley’s production added so much soul to it. I feel like this track is the perfect introduction of my music to the world, blending all the influences that have shaped me.”

At 11, Lola from Rochester in Kent and from a musical family – mum and dad were in a band – started training at Spirit Young Performers Company, and in 2016 she was cast as the role of Sophie in the West End production of School of Rock the Musical.

In 2017 she was cast in the lead role in the West End production of Annie. In 2019 she was cast in the CBBC TV series “Almost Never.” She is the younger sister of Actress Lia Moxom.

  • Lola Live: On October 10th, Lola will take to the stage at The Jazz Cafe in Camden, London to support Grammy-nominated r&b star Alex Isley.
