“Dark Americana star” Amigo The Devil, aka Danny Kiranos, is due to tour the UK, Ireland and Europe in March and April next year – two years since his last trip across the pond.
He is currently in the middle of a US tour to promote his critically acclaimed 2021 album, “Born Against” on the Liars Club label, which features singles “Quiet As A Rat”, “Murder In The Bingo hall”, “Another Man’s Grave” and “Different Anymore”.
Renowned for his macabre storytelling, “Born Against” sees the unique artist expand his repertoire with “romantic, philosophical and emotional narratives”, without sacrificing the genre-bending style that had already garnered him a passionate following.
Harnessing some of the world music he grew up on, with additional inspiration from master storytellers such as Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen and contemporaries like Fiona Apple and Father John Misty, Amigo’s latest songs are “vivid, cinematic tales of flawed protagonists on the edge, desperately clinging to some sense of stability while following their heart’s chosen path.”
Assisted by producer Beau Bedford (The Texas Gentlemen) at the Modern Electric Sound Recorders studio in Dallas, the album taps into avant-garde soundscapes and a cinematic vibe; as the follow-up to “Everything Is Fine”, his 2018 debut. That blurred genres across rock, folk, Americana, country and metal.
Fan-favourite tracks included “Hungover In Jonestown”, “If I’m Crazy” and “Cocaine And Abel” (see the video, above). Showcasing Danny’s raconteur and vocal skills, in versatile material which resonated with his growing global fanbase.
