A year ago, when we launched Music Republic Magazine, we “bigged-up” a few artists and bands we felt were a good bet, and tipped some for bigger and better things. Ones to watch, you might say….Irish act New Portals was one such promising outfit, and we are pleased to report our faith in them was not wasted……
They are releasing some lovely sounds. The new single/video is a good example: “Sober”. Taken from the recently released and critically acclaimed “Golden Hour” EP. The record follows the band’s debut EP “Stereo”, released earlier this year to more great media praise.
“Sober”, sets a mesmerising, charming and serene vibe – while the video sees New Portals’ Ruth Aicken, dancing among a kaleidoscopic wave of visuals.
New Portals have received strong support from BBC Radio 1, with Phil Taggart and Huw Stephens champions of the band at the station. The band completed their first US tour, and played a number of shows at SXSW.
New Portals are one of the most highly praised new artists coming from Ireland today. Exciting stuff planned for 2018, they tease….. Music Republic Magazine started the year advising you guys to keep a beady eye on these guys, and we end this same year with the exact same message.
